National-Awards-to-Telugu-Films-Means-A-Lot-Than-Normal-OpticsThe 66th National Film awards were announced by Rahul Rawail, head of the Jury for feature films a little while ago. Awards are given in 31 categories in the feature film category. Telugu films have reaped a fortune in the awards this time by winning Seven Awards in various categories.

Mahanati has managed to win three awards, Natural Star Nani’s maiden production venture, Awe! Managed two awards, and then, Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam and Sushanth – Rahul Ravindran’s Chi La Sow achieved one award each. Dubbing film, KGF which was successful also managed two awards: Best Action Choreography and Best VFX award.

Everybody was skeptical about Mahanati until the film release and now it has got the highest number of awards among Telugu film. Rangasthalam is a non-Baahubali industry hit. Chilasow was a decent hit. KGF was a sensational hit in all the languages it release.

All the films which have got the awards are made by young teams breaking the norms of conventional Tollywood. This appreciation and recognition will give confidence to the upcoming filmmakers to explore more challenging and unconventional themes. All the films were successful commercially which indicates that the audience is embracing the change.
