Nani’s ‘Gang Leader‘ looked fine before the release. However, the movie turned out to be a disaster both in the Telugu States and also in overseas. In the US, the movie grossed $960 K and it couldn’t reach the break-even figure.
Even before the stipulated 4 weeks window period, ‘Gang Leader’ is now premiering on Amazon Prime after 27 days of its release. Here, the big question surfaced again. The growing threat of digital platforms is allegedly keeping the audiences away from the theatres.
If the digital platforms can’t wait for the four week window period, why would the common audiences go to theatres to watch a new movie? This is one of the major concerns that would reduce the theatrical run of a newly released movie.
When a new movie is available at home on Prime or any other platform, families try to avoid going to theatres because of the fact that it would be available very soon, sometimes, even before a month of its release. Why isn’t the film industry foreseeing what could happen in the near future?
