Right now the title Gang Leader and its repercussions and expectations seem to be the last of concerns of Natural Star Nani. The first thing that is important for him is to get an audience in the halls in the first place.
As we all know, Gang Leader is releasing on September 13th. It is coming two weeks before and after two ultra-big Mega movies Saaho and Sye Raa. These films are hogging all the limelight now, and are expected to continue to hold their sway on the audience mind for the next one month.
It is going to be a big issue in overseas, the US which is very critical in the overall performance of Gang Leader. A film with Vikram Kumar ideally should set the box office on fire in this territory. But, with Gang Leader sandwiched between those films (that come with high prices), it must present something exception to draw the audience to theatres.
As if that was not enough, there is competition to deal with in the form of Valmiki. It also arrives on the same date. It is another topic that Valmiki too faces the same issues as Gang Leader, but at least it looks like finding favour with the masses in the Telugu states. It is not that dependent on the US market commercially.
The theatrical trailer that is going to arrive in two days (August 28th) and the special video song that is reportedly planned become very crucial in generating buzz for Gang Leader. The two songs that have come out, while good, is very classy to have any impact on the ground level similar to Nani’s last outing Jersey.
Nani’s last few films Krishnarjuna Yuddham, DevaDas and Jersey have all been underperformers. He would be hoping to strike big with Gang Leader and the combination too is right. Let us see if things take a positive turn with the trailer and momentum is maintained amidst these biggies mania.
