Nagarjuna has always been a trendsetter who has chosen to tread on path less travelled. Right from Shiva to Geetanjali, to Manmadhudu to the latest Wild Dog, Nagarjuna has been a prolific actor who never shied away from experimenting and picked up various genres.
Nagarjuna’s last release Wild Dog was helmed by Ahishor Solomon which hit the screen on April 2. Despite getting critical acclaim and rave reviews, Wild Dog got a lukewarm response from the audience. The reason could be the film released at a time when the second wave just picked up and the country witnessed a surge in coronavirus cases.
Also, the movie did not have the usual commercial elements and audience may not have been enticed to watch such serious subject in difficult situation. So, the movie struggled. However, Wild Dog released on OTT platform Netflix on Thursday.
It got released in all Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada and two days after its release, it has found a spot on trends list. Out of all the South films that were released on Netflix, Wild Dog generated maximum views.
The Telugu version is trending #2 across the country, while the Tamil version ranks at 5th position. Wild Dog is the only star film that got OTT release now and with theaters also shut down, the audience will have very few entertainment options and Wild Dog is sure to get more views in coming days. Finally, Nagarjuna’s hard work has paid off.
