This weekend is going to be a mighty important one for two industries – Tamil cinema and Hindi cinema as two quintessentially important films are lined up for release. The said films are Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Vikram Vedha.
Pooniyin Selvan is a Tamil language period action epic based on the Chola Kingdom. It is one of the costliest Tamil films and it has Vikram, Karthik, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, and others in the lead roles. It is directed by Mani Ratnam. This film is expected to be one of the top grossers in Tamil cinema ever and the stakes are high on the same.
Then there is Vikram Vedha, a proper mass film. It is the most anticipated mass film in the Hindi circuit. The trailer looked promising and the combination of Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan is expected to be another USP.
Both Tamil cinema and Hindi cinema are in great need of solid commercial box office success and they are pinning high hopes on Pooniyin Selvan and Vikram Vedha respectively.
As for Ponniyin Selvan, the film is expected to do $1 million from USA premieres and that’s a pretty solid number. Vikram Vedha is also expected to open big in the mass circuits across the Hindi belt.
Both the films are releasing on the 30th of this month and we should wait and see how they fare at the box office.
