Despite mixed reviews and word of mouth, the Vijay starrer Mersal is setting the box office on fire, worldwide. It has created new records in most of the areas.
The early buzz is that Mersal has set the biggest record of all. The record is that of breaking the opening day number of Superstar Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu. Superstar’s Kabali is the record for the biggest opening of all time in Tamil Nadu. It remained that way in spite of biggies release. Finally, it has been overtaken post GST, and ticket rates hike by Vijay starrer Mersal.
The grand opening is a relief for Vijay as his last film Bairavaa was a dud at the box office. Mersal, meanwhile, has a long distance to go to achieve a successful tag. The opening day and the weekend give the trade, immense hope.
