In what can be termed as a massive surprise, and also a shock, Tamil star Suriya’s most awaited flick has opted for a digital release. We are talking about Soorarai Pottru.
The Suriya starrer is helmed by director Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru (Guru in Telugu) fame. It is a surprise because none were expecting such an announcement. It is also shocking for the same reason. It is a biggie and a keenly awaited one at that, which fans were looking forward to seeing theatrically.
Even the star of the show, Suriya had assured time and again for its theatrical release. And hence the announcement has taken everyone by surprise.
Soorarai Pottru is inspired by real-life entrepreneur GR Gopinath, founder of Air Deccan. Suriya essays the role of captain Gopinath in the movie, which he loved so much that, he turned a producer, as well.
Soorarai Pottru along with its Telugu dubbing, Aakasame Nee Haddhu Ra will stream online on Amazon Prime Video from October 30th. It is, therefore, the biggest movie to hit the platform from the Southern film industry.
Incidentally, it was Suriya’s production Ponmagal Vandhal starring his wife Jyothika that became a game-changer for digital platforms in India. It was the first noticeable film to confirm the digital release. And now, Suriya with Soorarai Pottru has taken it to the next level.
Soorarai Pottru has Aparna Balamurali in the female lead. Senior Telugu actor, Mohan Babu essays a vital role in the movie. Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Sampath and others will be seen in critical supporting parts. GV Prakash provides the music to the rustic biopic drama.
