Massive Jump in TV Consumption, Post COVID-19In India, the main source of entertainment for the common man is the television and it comes as no surprise when the TV consumption rate among the Indians took a massive jump post the COVID-19 lockdown in force.

According to the latest report by Broad Audience Research Council, India (BARC India), the TV consumption in India has gone up to 43% due to COVID-19 lockdown impact and over 63% of people are watching television for more than 3 hours a day.

The average daily reach of the television has gone up from 560 million (5.6 crores) to 627 million (6.27 crores) viewers. The trend shows that people are watching TV from early in the morning to late in the night, obviously for news update in the mornings and movies in the late nights.

The younger generation is said to watching our epics, ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharat’ besides ‘Shaktimaan’ and ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ with the Doordarshan National channel’s viewers’ rate going up in the Hindi category.
