Mass Overload – Will It Work For Valmiki?

If the last week movie was a classy affair out and out, this week we will have a through ‘mass’ outing. Valmiki starring Varun Tej and Atharva Murali in the lead is that massy deal.

Right from the looks of Varun Tej to the very latest remix song featuring him and Pooja Hegde, there is a mass overload. The director Harish Shankar is trying his best to woo them. The question is, is it working.

Frankly, it has been a mixed response until now. There is a segment which feels Varun Tej is trying too hard to be convincing as a don. The natural flair and swag are missing. He looks so out of place in the “Elluvochi Godaramma” song. It could still work as part of the narrative if the story sticks to the original Tamil film.

Of course, there are others who are willing to give Varun Tej a chance, only due to his effort to do something out of his comfort zone. It is appreciable, no doubt, but is that enough? We will know in a few days.

Whatever may be the eventuality, Varun Tej seems to get the better deal here compared to Harish Shankar, as of now. It took a long time for the director to get going after DJ with Allu Arjun. It might be the same if it fails again. The director is due to deliver a genuine entertainer for some time. Let’s hope Harish Shankar has managed that with Valmiki.
