Lakshmi Manchu’s first ever web series ‘Mrs Subbalakshmi‘ is soon going to be aired on Zee5, one of the digital platforms. Srinivas Avasarala will be seen reprising the role of a forgetful husband in the series. Speaking at the launch event, Manchu Lakshmi touched upon the theatres issue in TFI.
She isn’t the first one to mention that small movies are removed from theatres when a biggie is all set for release. One of her films had to face the same fate just after a week of her it’s release. If this is the fate of a movie starring Mohan Babu’s daughter, one can imagine the fate of other small movies. This was Manchu Lakshmi’s angst who alleged that theatres are under 6-7 people who are controlling the fate of others.
When they had invested their blood on a movie for a year or so, no one knows if the movie would see the light of the day or not. That’s the reason why she chose digital medium to tell the story written by acclaimed female writer Balabadrapatruni Ramani, said Manchu’s daughter. She must be speaking the truth as we know that she isn’t the first one to talk about theatres issue and she wouldn’t be the last one either.
