Malayali Film Is India’s Entry for the Foreign-Language Film Oscar CategoryBollywood Filmmaker, Rahul Rawail’s Committee which will decide India’s Official Entry to the Nominations of the Prestigious Oscar Awards has announced its decision. Malayalam film, Jallikattu will be India’s entry to compete in the Best Foreign Film language category.

The committee watched 27 films from various languages and finally picked Jallikattu. The 92nd Academy Awards, popularly called the Oscars, will be presented on 25 April 2021, in Los Angeles, US. OTT releases were also allowed this time due to the Pandemic.

The ceremony was pushed back by two months because of the coronavirus pandemic. Though India has been sending entries for the last 60 years, it is still to win one. It has to be seen if Jallikattu manages to bring an Oscar for India after a long wait.

Jallikattu revolves around a tamed buffalo that liberates itself from its owner on the eve of its scheduled slaughter and runs amok through a town in Kerala’s Idduki district.
