Malayalam Star Dulquer Salmaan Open Apology To Tamil Fans, For A JokeOne of the top star among young Malayalam heroes, Dulquer Salman issued an apology for his Tamil fans. He put out an open letter in response to the abuses that he has been getting.

The whole mess that Dulquer Salman finds him in is due to the movie Varane Avashyamund. A joke in the film features the name Prabhakaran, and that is where the problem cropped up for Tamil audience.

Many of the Tamil folks took the joke as an insult to the revolutionary leader, slain LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. It led to a volley of verbal abuses to Dulquer Salman and also his father, the legend Mammootty.

Sensing the increasing negativity, Dulquer Salman immediately took to social media to clarify the issue. He explained in detail and showed a reference from an old movie clip which served as the inspiration for the joke in Varane Avashyamund. He apologised on behalf of the team as he is also the producer.

Varane Avashyamund released earlier in the year in February. It did not have any controversy in its theatrical run. It is only after the recent debut on the streaming platform Netflix that it has erupted. The movie set in Tamil Nadu stars Shobhana, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Suresh Gopi in crucial roles.
