As it is, Adivi Sesh has a great job ahead of him to generate the buzz for Major at the pan-India level. He has accepted it as a challenge recently. Now, he is getting into further trouble as he has to face competition. Bollywood flick Shershah has announced July 2nd release date.
Competition is not a problem. What is, however, is that; it comes with a film that is similar to Major. It is the biography of another military man, Captain Vikram Batra. A Param Veer Chakra awardee.
Both the movies, Shershah and Major, are biographies. While Shershah is about Vikram Batra in Kargil backdrop, Major is about Sandeep Unnikrishnan who got martyred in 2008’s 26/11 Mumbai Attacks.
Both movies will be targeting the same crowd. With Shershah, on the same day, Major has to work doubly hard to grab the audience’s attention on a pan-India level. The movie’s promotion has not yet begun, so we have to wait and see how the audience react.
Major obviously has the advantage of the Telugu market. It will open well due to the goodwill earned by Adivi Sesh through the past few films. The backing of Mahesh Babu will be an additional factor. Major is the first GMB production featuring an outside hero. But, a clash seems to have come out of nowhere. The plans have to be reworked.
Sashi Kiran Tikka directs Major. The first look posters have come earlier in the year, and they have been quite good. However, it is so far restricted to the Telugu audience. We have to see what the Major team does next to create the buzz on a pan-India level.
