Mahesh-Babu's-Clarification-on-Issue-Blown-OutAn official press statement was issued by Mahesh Babu giving clarity on the Goods & Services Tax and why he didn’t pay the tax to the concerned department. The press note brought into light the fact that the Ambassador’s services didn’t come under any type of tax, back then. The services cam under taxable goods only in 2010.

Hence, the superstar hasn’t been at fault as per the news that was making rounds since yesterday. For the uninitiated, there was a news that has been buzzing all over the web media that Mahesh Babu’s bank account was seized by the Goods & Services Tax Department authorities for the non-payment of tax. The issue was blown out of proportions saying that the superstar has failed to pay the tax amount in 2007-2008.

Therefore, the amount was said to be 18.5 lakhs back then, ten years ago and that has escalated to 73.5 lakhs with penalty after all these years. Mahesh Babu also alleged that the GST department authorities seized the accounts without prior notice when the issue actually is under court’s jurisdiction. But, Mahesh Babu is a dutiful citizen who pays his taxes properly, says the official press note.
