In the non-Baahubali world, the first film to cross 100 Cr share mark was Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150. Later, his son achieved the feat and not only went past 100 Cr but also comfortably gone ahead of Khaidi No 150 with Rangasthalam.
When last year big stars movie dates were announced, a vast majority including the fans didn’t expect Charan to go past the coveted mark. The bigger stars Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu were touted to join the club next even with average talk. The former fell flat with disastrous talk, and the latter couldn’t, despite a better than average word of mouth.
A year later, Superstar Mahesh Babu has another shot at getting into the 100 Cr club. Unlike last time, Maharshi has multiple advantages to cross the magic figure. It is the landmark 25th film which has fans excited. It is also the only biggie of the entire summer in Telugu cinema. In the overseas, things are even worse, and Telugu audience is craving for a star hero flick.
In the past, Mahesh Babu had scored the biggest hit of career Dookudu under similar circumstances. Now, Maharshi has a chance to repeat the feat. A hit talk in the current time should ideally be enough for a 100 Cr share film from a top star. Will Mahesh Babu get lucky second time?
