Mahabharata Lands Kamal Haasan in TroubleA religious outfit by name Hindu Makkal Katchi filed a complaint on Kamal Haasan for his alleged derogatory remarks on the epic Mahabharata commenting on the way Draupadi was used as an object of gambling by the men in the epic.

Now, the fundamentalists have a problem regarding Kamal’s opinion on the way women were objectified. They think that Kamal has made derogatory remarks on Hindu epic and hence a public interest litigation on the actor. Is Kamal really hurting the sentiments of the Hindus when he is commenting on an incident that was depicted in the epic?

When we are in the age when we are talking about equal rights for women and also fighting against the objectification of women in films, sexual harassment and molestation; why would Kamal’s personal remark be considered as if it is hurting the sentiments of a religious group? Aren’t we discussing the same on different platforms? Here, Kamal has taken only another example, though.
