The unprecedented advance booking for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in India has taken the trade circles by storm. Unlike Spiderman, Dr. Strange is not as popular, but the Marvel and Avengers brand are working big time, and the film is sure to take 30 crore+ opening on its first day in India.
If the reports are to be believed, then the IMAX version alone has sold tickets worth Rs 5 crore net for the opening weekend. The total advance booking for the weekend stands at around 25 crores. Dr. Strange is going to take a massive opening with the South as the three big circuits, Nizam / Andhra, Tamil Nadu, and Bengaluru/Mysore, are expected to collect 3-4 crore net each.
The shows now begin as early as 4 AM in India, and surprisingly almost every show is SOLD OUT or is in Fast filling mode.
While the Bollywood films are finding it tough to collect even 5 crores on their opening day, South and Hollywood films are raking havoc at the ticket windows.
The Bollywood filmmakers have to come out with better films and better marketing strategies soon to stay in the race.
