Lucky Escape For Mahesh Babu's Maharshi! As many following the Telugu movies would know, Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi was initially planned to release on the eve of Ugadi on April 5th. Since the deadline was impossible to meet an alternative date was set to April 25th. It means the film would have hit the screens today had it stuck to the alternative plan.

However, the makers were sensible, and fans too were happy, when it was announced that Maharshi is postponed to May 9th. The reason was a simple one involving a formidable opponent. On April 26th, the concluding chapter of Avengers series, Endgame was planned to arrive worldwide.

Usually, a Hollywood movie is no competition to a film featuring a local Superstar in Telugu. They take a backseat for our audience. But, the case of the Avengers is different. The franchise has been built for over a decade, and in the last few years, it has developed into a global event of sorts with the Indian populace also coming on board. A clash with such a film was only going to be a losing proposition for Maharshi.

In fact, fans of Superstar Mahesh Babu better know the status of what happened when the first part of the concluding chapter of the Avengers, Infinity Wars came a week after Bharat Ane Nenu. If the impact could be felt coming after a week imagine coming around the same time?

Such is the anticipation in India that no big film is arriving this week across all film industries. Maharshi, coming with it would have meant the Telugu biggie easily losing close to ten crore business worldwide. The most significantly affected areas would be the rest of India, and the World and The US.

Avengers: Endgame is going to storm the screens across the country tomorrow (April 26th). For a Hollywood movie, the Telugu release is more than double of the previous best. In the A centres, the bookings are packed for the entire weekend. Under these circumstances, Maharshi is indeed lucky to dodge the bullet. A clash here would have cost it dearly.
