The trailer of Rashmika Mandanna’s next Mission Majnu, starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role, dropped yesterday. The film is based on true events from the 1970s.
The trailer seems to follow Sidharth’s character as he attempts to juggle different avatars to accomplish his mission as a spy tasked to infiltrate Pakistan’s nuclear program.
Sidharth marries a Pakistani woman (Rashmika Mandanna) after falling in love with her to establish his identity in the neighboring nation. Rashmika seems to play a crucial role in the film as she is shown to be a part of his cover story.
Unfortunately, the film is going to release directly on Netflix. The film has the scale and content to click in theaters. If the film turned out to be a theatrical success, it would have given Rashmika’s career quite a bit of mileage.
But the makers are going for an OTT release which might be disappointing to Rashmika, who was aspiring to become a successful actress in Bollywood, post-Pushpa’s popularity.
Her last film, Good Bye, was actually OTT material but was released in theaters. And much to her embarrassment, the film turned out to be a washout.
Mission Majnu is going to release on Netflix on 20 January 2023.
