While the fans of the superstar across the world are waiting for the release of ‘Lingaa’ on the superstar’s bitrthday on 12th December, the news that ‘Lingaa’s rights aren’t sold might shock many because we have been reading the news of ‘Lingaa’s whooping business in India and also overseas.
But it is truth and ‘Lingaa’s theatrical rights are still unsold in Kerala while the release date of the film is fast approaching. The reason behind this surprising news is that the ‘Kerala Distribution Association’ decided not buy Rajnikanth ‘Lingaa’s theatrical rights until the past dues regarding ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ are cleared.
The distributors acquired the rights of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ for fancy amount but the film failed to create impact at box-office leaving distributors and buyers in heavy losses. Whether they want compensation for the losses or any dues to be cleared isn’t clear. Nevertheless, the producers of the movie are trying their best to come to agreeable terms with Kerala distributors.
Besides Rajnikanth, despite having big names like AR Rehman, Rockline Venkatesh and Eros International; the film’s business in Kerala had to face a road block. ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ failure seems to be still effecting Rajnikanth’s upcoming movie. But one knows that, one hit from Rajni Sir would rewrite the history of films. That is the range he had garnered during his sojourn to stardom. Prince Mahesh Babu rightly said, “Superstar status is like Rajni Sir status. Whatever he does and chooses are saleable and accepted.”
