It’s been 8 weeks since Tollywood saw a decent box office winner. Major and Vikram were the two last films that made some noise at the Telugu box office. Ram’s Warriorr released in the 8th week post Major and it doesn’t show too much promise either.
The Warriorr which was promoted a proper action entertainer also couldn’t get a positive verdict from the audience or the critics alike. Its box office prospects aren’t all that promising now. All eyes are in Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger now.
Liger is the one film that has the potential to amass anticipation and pull the masses and the youth to the theaters. Vijay Deverakonda has good fetch in the youth, and Puri commands good patronage amongst the masses. This film is set for release on 25th August and it could well be the next big thing from Tollywood, given it comes with the right content.
Ravi Teja’s Ramarao On Duty and Dulquer’s Sita Ramam are also scheduled for release in the next few days. Ravi Teja is in a poor run of form and also Rama Rao On Duty’s promotional campaign is also in the early stages. Dulquer’s Sita Ramam appears to be catering to a fixed section of the audience, despite the classy promotional material that has been unveiled till now.
As things stand, Liger is the one film that has mass pull, thanks to the interesting combination of Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh. If the content is right, this film can click big at the box office.
