Liger: 50% Loss To OS Distributor!Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh’s Liger ended up as a miserable disaster at the box office. The losses of the buyers started from 50% and in the case of some areas, the numbers of scary.

Sarigama Cinemas bagged the Overseas rights of the film paying 6 Crore on NRA basis. The distributor who previously distributed Mega Blockbusters like RRR and KGF 2 earlier this year resulted in a loss of a solid 3 Crore.

Sarigama earned high reputation in US theater chains with two big films and it has got hit with Liger.

On his part, the distributor gave a wide release for the film and also released it in many Big and XD Screens that usually only screen Hollywood films and Big event films like RRR and KGF 2.

It has not only elevated the hype around the film but also helped Vijay’s Stardom in the perception of the audience. Also, the distributor held on to the theaters even after the Premieres hoping for long run which did not happen.

Now the distributor is left high and dry with severe loss. There is no assurance yet from Puri and Charmee about any loss covering.

Buzz is that they are meeting the buyers from Monday but the Overseas distributor did not get a call yet.

On the part of Vijay as well as Puri, it is important that they have goodwill in Overseas distribution circles as any wrong move can bring their reputation down and will impact their future films as well.

It is interesting to note that Puri and Charmee were pressing for 7.5 Crore for the Overseas rights. That has delayed the deal sealing for a long time. Luckily for the distributor, it was finalized only for 6 Crore. If not the losses would have been even more.
