Legendary Lata Mangeshkar Is No More Nation had lost one more gem to COVID-19. Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar had passed away a short while ago at the age of 92. She was admitted in early January this year after she tested positive for COVID-19 and fought against the virus for a long time in the ICU.

“It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID-19,” Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital announced.

She stepped into the World of Music at the age of 13 and recorded her first song in 1942. In her career spanning seven decades, she has to her credit over 30,000 songs in different languages.

One of the finest singers ever in India, Lata was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan, third-highest civilian award in 1969, the Padma Vibhushan, second-highest civilian award in 1999 and the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 2001.
