The box office success of Akhanda gave new hopes to forthcoming Telugu biggies, Pushpa, RRR, and Radhe Shyam. But the latest developments aren’t all that promising for these biggies.
The central government has instructed the state governments to impose night curfew if need be, in view of the possibility of the onset of the Covid 3rd wave.
If the Covid cases spike in the twin Telugu states, the respective governments might indeed contemplate night curfew. If the night curfew is imposed, screening 4 shows wouldn’t be possible. This could sound the death rattle for forthcoming Telugu pan-India biggies.
Also, if the Andhra Pradesh government intends to target any Telugu film in particular or the industry, as a whole, it can cite the night curfew and cause a dent in the film’s theatrical run.
As of now, the Covid situation is well under control in the Telugu states, and as well as other parts of the country. But if the situation deteriorates and there is a spike in Covid caseload, it could come as unnecessary panic to the likes of RRR, and Radhe Shyam.
As in the case of Pushpa: The Rise, the film is releasing in just a week from now. There is no real possibility of the state government imposing the night curfew all of a sudden. So, the Allu Arjun starrer might be escaping the possible ‘night curfew’ hurdle.
