Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao is now focusing on to the affairs of the Council. TRS do not have majority there and the party is keen on getting defections from TDP and Congress to attain majority. It is known that 9 MLCs of both the parties and independents have joined the party few days ago. KCR will attract more MLCs towards the party or at least make them absent for the Council Chairman election so that TRS gets its candidate elected.
On the other side, KCR had given the post to Employees Union leader Swamy Goud who played an active role in Telangana movement. KCR hopes that Swamy Goud’s candidature will get support from all the parties since they can not ignore him being a serious activist. Swamy Goud had already filed his nomination and the election will take place on Wednesday. Congress approached the governor to stall the Council Chairman elections till the defection complaints are heard but in all probability there will not be any change.
