Talk Full Collections NillSensational Kannada hit Kantara is heading towards the Rs 75-crore mark in Karnataka. Owing to the great response, the film’s Hindi version was released in the Northern belts on Friday on as many as 1200 screens.

Despite great word of mouth, the film has failed to put decent collections on the board. According to the reports, the film will collect around Rs. 80 Lakhs to Rs. 1 Crore which can be called ok for a Kannada dubbed film.

But the film was promoted extensively on social media and the film also got a big release on 1200 screens. Kantara was definitely expected to collect somewhere around 3 to 4 crores, but it has fallen way short of the trade expectations.

The straight Hindi releases this week have also collected poorly on their first day. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G was the best of the lot with around Rs. 3.5 crores net. Parineeti Chopra’s Spy Thriller failed to collect even 25 Lakhs, despite the tickets being sold at Rs. 100.

Vikram Vedha is also continuing its run at low levels and collects around 90 Lakhs on its third Friday.

Overall it was a gloomy Friday at the Bollywood Boxoffice. It would be interesting to see where Kantara will go from here.
