Raghava Lawrence-directed ‘Kanchana’ was not a great film, but it was well received by the masses. It was a quirky horror story laced with comedy at the right junctures. Talks had emerged a few years ago about the film’s Hindi remake, but it fizzled out very soon.

The latest news is that actor Ajay Devgan, riding high on the success of Singham Returns, has finally given his nod for the Hindi remake of Kanchana. While one’s not sure if Lawrence will direct the Hindi version as well, but sources close to Devgan have confirmed that the project is soon and is expected to go on floors soon. It would also be interesting to see who will the role of transgender, originally played by actor Sarath Kumar. Earlier, it was rumoured that Sanjay Dutt will essay the role, but since he’s behind bars, we have to see who will get to play the role.

Lawrence is currently busy directing the sequel to Kanchana. He plays the lead role as well, while Tapsee Pannu is paired opposite him. The film is expected to release towards the end of the year.
