Just-Imagine-Prabhas's-Line-Up-Without-SalaarTeasers and trailers are intended to catapult the buzz and hype surrounding a film. But in the case of Prabhas’s Adipurush, things appear to have gone horribly wrong.

Up until yesterday, Adipurush, which is based on Ramayan was billed to be a potential box office monster, keeping in mind the Hindutva trance in Northern India. But the arrival of the teaser changed everything.

The teaser had an overwhelming cartoonish vibe, which is a big no-no for a big event film based on the Hindu epic, Ramayan. These kinds of cartoonish visuals take away the intensity of the drama and this is where things are going south for Adipurush. Nobody is taking the film seriously now.

Adding to that, there is a #BoycottAdipurush trend that has picked up on Twitter. Many netizens are venting out at the makers of Adipurush over the design of Ravan’s character. At first, there was a backlash when Saif Ali Khan was roped in to play the demon king Ravan, a staunch Hindu.

The same increased multi-fold now as netizens commented Saif looked more like an Islamic villain than Ravan. This horrible design by the team has now led to serious consequences. The Boycott Adipurush trend is catching up on Twitter, given the improper portrayal of the pivotal character. The lackluster presentation of the teaser is now met with negativity on Saif in Ravan’s character.

It needs to be said that the teaser has completely shattered the hype surrounding Adipurush. There was a lot of ‘Hindutva’ expectations on the film, but it evaporated rather quickly with the substandard teaser which has done a whole lot more bad than good to the film.

Prabhas followed up blockbuster Baahubali with duds like Saaho and Radhe Shyam. There’s not a lot going into Adipurush now either, owing to the teaser. So, Salaar with KGF fame Prashanth Neel now stands as the only true potential film in Prabhas’s lineup. Hadn’t it been for this film, Prabhas’s immediate lineup would look to be in shatters.
