Butta Bomma HuntJanuary month has turned out to be fruitful this year. Despite mixed talks, Sankranthi releases have fared well and surprisingly have kept the cash registers ringing.

Megastar’s Chiranjeevi has turned out to be a great comeback for the legend. The film is the Sankranthi winner and is doing business way above expectations and is turning out to be a big hit. On the other hand, Veera Simha Reddy is also doing decently after a terrific start. The film is inching towards breakeven.

Vijay’s Vaarasudu is also putting up decent numbers in the Telugu states due to the festive season. Ajith’s Thegimpu turned out to be a washout. Kalyanam Kamaneeyam also failed to create any impact at the box office.

Two more releases are lined up in the month of January. Sudheer Babu’s Hunt and Sithara Entertainments’ Butta Bomma.

Hunt is the remake of the Malayalam cult thriller Mumbai Police. Sudheer Babu‘s career hasn’t been going great guns in the last few years. It has to be seen if he can revive his sagging career with Hunt.

Butta Bomma is also a remake of the Malayalam film, Kappela, which was released mainly on OTT after a brief run in theaters due to COVID. The film received positive reviews. The film stars newcomers, but with a strong backup of a major production like Sithara Entertainments, there are decent expectations from the films.

People spent heavily on films for the Sankranthi releases. Do they still have the money and interest to spend on films like Butta Bomma and Hunt? Does the Tollywood box office still have some more surprises in store?

We will have to wait and see.
