Tollywood has registered a rather bright start to 2023 with mainstream Telugu Sankranthi biggies Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy working very well at the box office.
Both Veerayya and Veera opened to mixed reviews. The Chiru starrer turned out to be a blockbuster as it banked largely on Sankranthi factor and the entertainment factor working out.
Balayya too registered career-best box office numbers with Veera Simha Reddy. He bettered Akhanda’s blockbuster run with VSR.
Dubbed film, Varasudu was an average farer while another dubbed film, Thegimpu turned a flop.
Small films, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam and Hunt disappeared without a trace at the box office. Neither could post even mention worthy numbers.
All in all, the mainstream Telugu biggies, Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya have given Tollywood the much needed impetus it needed to start 2023. Both films reaped profits for buyers and the trade is optimistic that Tollywood will capitalise on this bright start and go big at the box office for the remainder of the year.
