Ravanasura_Agent_Shaakuntalam_Meter_VirupakshaMarch is expected to end with a bang with Nani’s Dasara. And April also looks promising for Tollywood with many films releasing every week.

The first Friday of April (April 7) will see the release of Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura directed by Sudheer Verma. Ravi Teja’s career is on a high after the blockbuster success of Dhamaka and Waltair Veerayya. So expectations from Ravanasura. Sudheer Varma also has to prove himself as a credible director after a series of flops.

Daggubati Abhiram’s debut movie Ahimsa is also set for release on April 7. The team of Anandi Arts, RP Patnaik, and director Teja is coming back with this youthful film that delivered a blockbuster like Nuvvu Nenu in the past.

Kiran Abbavaram who had an average hit with his last outing with Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha is coming back within a short span with Meter. This film is also releasing on April 7 and is being presented by a big banner like Mythri Movie Makers.

Gunasekha’s much-awaited Shaakuntalam will see the light of day on April 14th. After many postponements, the film is finally releasing. Starring the in-form Samantha, this historical drama is produced by Dil Raju and Neelima Kona.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha, a mystic thriller, is directed by Karthik Dandu. The teaser that was released recently got a good response. Produced by BVSN Prasad, the film has a story by Sukumar and music by Kantara fame Ajaneesh Loknath. The film is all set to hit the screens on April 21.

Akhil Akkineni’s Agent is scheduled for April 28 release. The film’s shooting is still going on even after two years. The film is hot in the trade after the teaser release. This film is expected to give that big solo hit to Akhil Akkineni. This high-budget, high-octane action-adventure is directed by Sunreder Reddy.

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 is one of the biggest pan-India releases this summer. The historical action drama will unfold on the big screens on the 28th of April in the south and Hindi languages. Despite its first part being a big hit in Tamil, there are no huge expectations from this film in Telugu and Hindi languages.

There are some eagerly awaited dubbed films like Bichagadu 2 and Lawrence’s Rudhrudu. Bichagadu 1 was a rage and the audience is curious to see what the second part has in store. Lawrence’s films have always been safe bets in the Telugu market so Rudhrudu is also expected to set the cash registers ringing. Both films are releasing on April 14 along with Shaakuntalam.

Overall it is going to be a jam-packed and exciting April for Tollywood.
