Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sat with the MPs of his party ahead of the Parliament session. He asked them to exert pressure on the Central Government to approve the revised estimates of 55,656.87 Crore for the Polavaram Project.
He also told them only for Polavaram Project, Center asks the State Government to spend money first and later reimburses. “This system is not in place for any other National Project,” the Chief Minister told his MPs. While the Chief Minister laments about it, it is a boon in disguise for the project.
This reimbursement is the only reason why Polavaram Project works are going on at a brisk pace. In the system where Center gives money and executes the projects, we have seen them struck for years and even for decades. While it is necessary to pressurize the Center for early reimbursement, Jagan can not complain about it.
The Center is yet to reimburse around 1,971 Crore to Polavaram Project, a majority of this has been spent before 2019.
