Controversies have become very common these days and sometimes making some kind of controversy on a film is considered easy publicity for vested interests. National Award winning film ‘Kaaka Muttai’ also got into controversy because one Manivannan.
This Manivannan found that an aging character in the film had used derogatory comments on an advocate character. A criminal defamation case which was filed on producer Dhanush and Ishwarya Rajesh by Manivannan before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore is pending.
Dhanush and Ishwarya Rajesh filed petition in Madras High Court against the criminal defamation proceedings pending before CMM. Taking up the petition, the High Court issued stay orders on all the proceedings against Dhanush’s film.
Dhanush and Ishwarya argued in their petition that there is no such defamatory interpretation in their movie. The complainant had ulterior illegal motives behind filing the criminal defamation complaint on the makers of the movie.
