The two release dates announcement of RRR had earlier taken everyone by surprise. If that’s not enough, the makers have locked an entirely new date and shocked everyone with yet another official confirmation. So, why this hurry from the RRR team? Well, here’s why?
The makers of RRR are in no mood for any delay further and want to release the movie as soon as possible. The financial burden on them is immense. The postponement from January 7th was like adding salt to the wound. But, more than that, they don’t want to feel the heat of biggies fatigue.
March 18th, therefore was seen as the ideal date by RRR team. But, before they could make it official, a Bollywood biggie Bachchan Pandey has taken it. The negotiations were undertaken to move it, but things didn’t work out. And then late Puneeth Rajkumar’s James on March 17th made sure, the date was gone.
April 28th looked like the ideal alternative release date. But, the RRR team believed it would be too late. As many as eight big movies (Valimai, Gangubai Kathaiwadi, Radhe Shyam, Bachchan Pandey, Bheemla Nayak, KGF2, Laal Singh Chaddha, Suriya’s ET) would have been released by then. On top of that, it would have to share the screen with other Hindi biggie.
RRR still would have been on people’s radar and a top choice, but audience fatigue, for sure, would be felt by that time. In these pandemic times would people be willing to shell out money week after week? Some biggies are bound to be affected by this. Team RRR didn’t want to be in this position even though the date is perfect.
Keeping all things in mind, a perfect middle ground has been found on March 25th. There is no moving from this date unless there are corona related issues and no hundred percent occupancies across the board.
