There is the Law of Average which suggests a balance in future scenario based on the past events or happenings, and then there is an additional Law of Average in movies. It is simple, an average commercial film with a routine story is always a better bet at the box office than an average commercial film where the intention is to come up with something different.
There are many examples which suggest the filmy Law of Averages. Currently, two upcoming biggies fit perfectly into that scenario. Jai Lava Kusa is the regular commercial film whereas Spyder is the commercial film with a twist.
Usually, if both Jai Lava Kusa and Spyder have the same talk, it would be advantage Jai Lava Kusa based on the Law of Average, but in the recent past, the trend is changing. In the last August clash, Jaya Janaki Nayaka which is the regular routine commercial fare fared poorly when compared to Nene Raju Nene Mantri, a commercial film with a difference.
If the same trend is seen again, it is advantage Spyder for sure. But, for it to have an advantage, it must be at the least case be an average movie. Anything less and we have another example in the form of LIE that failed despite blockbuster song.
