Buoyed by the success of the interlinking of Krishna and Godavari rivers, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is keen on to take up the interlinking of Krishna and Penna rivers. The DPR for this ambitious project will be ready in a week and is likely to cost 25000 Crore.
Chandrababu is earmarking another 5000 Crore for projects in this year budget. 2000 Crore is being allocated only for Polavaram project while 3000 Crore for other projects. Naidu is adamant to complete several key projects in this tenure which will help Rayalaseema make drought free.
Recently Central government had shifted its focus on to interlinking of all the rivers in the country. Naidu pinned hopes on Center to fund some part of this project as it will benefit the farming sector in the entire country once completed. In fact this is the dream project of Former BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
