International film database portal, IMDb has released the list of top 10 Indian films for the year 2023 and it comprises of blockbusters like RRR, KGF 2, Vikram, Ponniyin Selvan, Kashmir Files, and others.
As one would expect, Rajamouli, Jr NTR, Ram Charan’s RRR has topped the list. It ranks number 1 and is followed by Kashmir Files, KGF 2, Vikram, and Kantara in descending order.
Rocketry gets 6th place and is followed by two Telugu films, Major and Sita Ramam. Ponniyin Selvan comes 9th and Charlie 777 comes 10th.
RRR is the leader of the chart and that is largely thanks to the sheer magnanimity of the project and the international acclaim it got.
“Of all the movies released theatrically or digitally in India between January 1 and November 7, 2022, and have an average IMDb user rating of 7 or higher with at least 25,000 votes, these 10 titles were consistently the most popular with IMDb users.” IMDb described the criteria.
Another interesting point here is that 9 of the 10 films are from South India. This speaks volumes about the dominance of South cinema in Indian demographic.
