Hyderabad Sculptors readies Buddha statues for AmaravatiWith Amaravati selected as the next capital of Andhra Pradesh, suddenly there is surge of demand for the sculptures of Lord Buddha especially from the capital region. A Hyderabad based sculptor who is famous for his exquisite works, is working on a series of stone Buddha statues to adorn the new capital.

His workshop near Hitec City is creating a number of Buddha statues in different forms with sizes ranging from about 3 feet to 20 feet. Depending on people’s choice, limestone, granite, or stone procured from places such as Khammam, Guntur and even Tamil Nadu are being used for the statues.

The Hyderabad based sculptor has worked on some of the marquee sites in Hyderabad, including the recently installed Congress leader G Venkatswamy statue at Tank Bund; Ashoka Pillar; PV Narasimha Rao Ghat; and the Poorna Kumbha at the Secretariat.
