raashi-khanna

Raashi Khanna is another Bollywood actress who has forayed into the southern market and is making her debut in Telugu. While the actress learnt the language to act in Oohalu Gusagusalade, her director didn’t allow her to dub in her own voice for the film as he felt it was a risky gamble to take. But how did Raashi manager to learn an alien language in very short period of time.

Explaining how she learnt the language, she said, “I have a common friend who speaks Telugu and thankfully a director who’s terrific with his Hindi. As a language, I felt Telugu was more closer to Hindi than English. There was a week-long workshop organised by the production team prior to the shoot. That was the opportunity I bagged to get my act right. I knew for sure that I wouldn’t be doing justice to the character had I not understood or grasped the essence underneath my lines. Getting to terms with a new language wasn’t as big as a problem I perceived it to be. I walked the extra mile to not mess up with my expressions on and off the sets. I took a maximum of three to four takes”.

Raashi played a cameo in Manam, but she doesn’t want to cash in on the film’s success and added that she prefers to be known by audiences for her performance in Oohalu Gusagusalade, which also features Naga Shaurya and is directed by Srinivas Avasarala.
