Take the case of Pellichoopulu, which we were privileged to watch earlier and reviewed, the film has made everyone once again re-think about the content.
Pellichoopulu was made on a paltry budget of 60 to 80 lakhs. After it was taken over by Suresh Production further amount was pumped into it for publicity and promotions. All in all, it was a touch above one crore. Today the film has collected nearly 12 Cr (share) Worldwide with 7.5 Cr coming from India and the rest from overseas. In terms of return of investment, this is the biggest of the year among Telugu films.
But the real and absolutely sensational run of the film is happening in the US where it just touched the Million mark officially. Would you believe it, the film was bought for $ 20K? The distributor has simply hit a once in a lifetime jackpot here. Apart from the collections which still continue to pour in, the remake rights of the film too are a hot commodity right now. Then there are the satellite rights which have been snapped at a big price.
Overall Pellichoopulu will go down as one of the most profitable ventures for everyone involved with it across the chain. It once again proves the power of the content and the vast potential Telugu market offers.
