Actor Navdeep, who has collaborated with maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for forthcoming Telugu thriller “Ice Cream”, says the auteur knows how to make cost-efficient films and that other filmmakers should learn how not to unnecessarily waste money on a film from him.

Besides acting, he learnt a lot about production from RGV in this film, especially about how not to waste money for shooting. He said when he works with newcomers; he’s realized that they do a lot of wastage. It hurts him a lot because when a film bombs at the box-office, the producer takes the hit but it’s also the actor who registers a flop. Flops are usually associated with the actors. Therefore, Navdeep always tells people not to waste money. He thinks filmmakers should learn from RGV about how efficiently one can make a film without having to compromise on cost because efficiency is not cost-cutting.

Navdeep is trying to apply whatever he learnt from Varma to his other films. He said that one of his other films is under production. He’s trying to include the techniques he learnt from RGV in it. He’s trying to tell people to not waste money, but then again he has his limitations and he can’t dictate terms. He said that his biggest takeaway from ‘Ice Cream’ will be how to make cost-efficient films.
