Going in to details, Mani Ratnam was planning to shoot vital scenes in such climatic settings, made use of Nilam. Sources say that Mani Ratnam and his crew shot some scenes near Kasimedu and Royapuram surroundings in the cyclone. This shooting had reportedly saved some crores of rupees for the makers of Kadal

Aravind Swami, who is playing an important role in the film confirmed this news by sharing on his Twitter page. “Awesome experience of shooting in cyclonic weather in the sea for a sequence in Kadal,” (sic) he posted.
