The makers of Chiranjeevi’s GodFather roped in Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan for one important purpose – gaining market for the film in the Hindi circuit. But it is clearly evident that Salman’s presence didn’t serve the purpose.
As per the latest box office reports, GodFather’s Hindi version got off to a very ordinary start in the North belt.
The film collected around Rs 60 lakh in Hindi on its opening day and that’s not a number to boast of for a film featuring Salman Khan, albeit in a brief role. The hopes of cashing in on Salman’s stardom in the Hindi belt didn’t really pay off.
Netizens are commenting that the lack of promotions in the Hindi belt is the reason behind the lackluster opening there.
GodFather openly to largely decent reviews and it remains to be seen if the trend will pick up over the weekend.
This film is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer which had Mohan Lal in the lead role. Jayam Mohan Raja directed the remake.
