Hindi-Box-Office-LigerVijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh’s Liger is one of the better hyped films in recent times. But the film couldn’t get off to a flyer at the box office, owing to weak reviews and not so encouraging word of mouth.

Coming to the Hindi box office prospects, the film got off to a rather dull first weekend.

Liger collected Rs 13.75 crores nett in its opening weekend in the Hindi belt. The film is said to have fared well in single screens across Bihar and Odisha, where South Indian actors and films have good patronage.

Liger has taken a beating in the Hindi belt on Sunday due to the India Vs Pakistan cricket match. The film could collect just Rs 1.25 crores on the crucial Sunday. Had the film fared well on Sunday, it could’ve entered the Rs 15 crore mark in Hindi but it wasn’t to be.

After a rather dry first weekend, Liger will now face an uphill task of holding at the box office for another weekend, which is going to be really tough with the reviews it has garnered.

Vijay hoped to hit it out of the park in the Hindi belt with the massy Liger but that didn’t happen. His next film, Kushi is not releasing in Hindi. So, he will be pinning hopes on JGM which is again directed by Puri Jagannadh.
