The State Government’s decision to introduce English Medium in All Government Schools scrapping Telugu medium totally has invited flak from several sections. The issue now reached Andhra Pradesh High Court. Several petitions including the one of BJP leader Sudesh Rambhotla were filed to quash the G.O. introducing English Medium.
They have asked to continue Telugu Medium as well giving the option to choose for the students and the parents. The high court admitted the petitions and served notices to the Union and the State Governments. The court also instructed the Government not to print English Medium Text Books.
The court warned officials that they will have to pay for the expenses if the books are printed without the court permission. The next hearing of the case is posted to January 27th. The court asked the Governments to file an affidavit on the issue.
The opposition parties urged the Government to continue both the mediums but the Government did not heed to their request.
