High Court Director ShankarThe alleged plagiarism charges against director Shankar have been in the court for a long time and when the case came to a hearing on Friday, the case was adjourned to a later date for the sake of collection of pieces of evidence regarding the allegations.

There had been a misunderstanding that Shankar was issued a non-bailable warrant by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court and the director released a statement correcting the same. No warrant has been issued against the director and it happened because of a glitch in the online reporting.

This plagiarism case came up in 2019 in the Madras High Court when a short story writer Arur Tamilnandan alleged that Shankar has copied his short story ‘Jugiba’ and made ‘Enthiran’ (Robo) with Rajinikanth that became a pan-Indian blockbuster.

The copyright violation case took many turns and even went to the supreme court when Shankar made an appeal challenging the order of the Madras High Court but was dismissed.
