She'd-Ensure-I-Didn't-Smile-a-Lot---SuriyaStar hero Suriya and his ‘Soorarai Pottru‘ team have been full of praises for the female director for her intelligence and her style of filmmaking understanding the characters first, getting into the skin of the characters before going to the shoot.

Talking about his experience of working with a female director Suriya said, it was different to hear a female director talking about a male character. She wanted to bring out Suriya’s personal experiences and emotions into the character. She made sure that all her actors misunderstood the characters well and behaved accordingly.

Her understanding of the characters was different and she also made sure that Suriya didn’t smile a lot as was his habit when he speaks. He thinks that matching her visualisation and the energy levels was a challenge for not only him but for the entire team.

Suriya not only changed his acting style for this movie but also went for physical transformation needed for the character along with getting the Madurai accent right for playing the role of Maara, loosely inspired by the real-life person, Gopinath, the founder of Deccan Airways.
