We are nearing the end of the first year of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Tenure. This one year has increased the prominence of Social Media in Andhra Pradesh Politics. We have been seeing Telugu Desam Party realizing the importance of Social Media and it has become a war between both sides on social media.
The Ruling Government is making some arrests in relation to Social Media and the Ministers are repeatedly mentioning about the criticism and comments on Social Media which highlights the role of Social Media in state politics. One more interesting aspect is political leaders coming onto social media.
A good number of politicians on both sides are having verified Twitter accounts and are being active on social media. Many are even hiring special teams to maintain their social media accounts and they are getting good traction from the fans of the respective parties.
Janasena Party also has good social media support due to the young fanbase of Pawan Kalyan. The Social Media prominence is expected to increase further in the next couple of years and will peak before the 2024 elections.
