The Sharwanand starrer Ranarangam was the big movie for the Independence Day from Telugu cinema. On its opening day, it has got good numbers from Telugu state owing to the holiday factor.
Ranarangam has collected approximately 3.80 Cr, which is the new career best for Sharwanand. It has bettered Shatamanam Bhavati numbers which had a limited release for Sankranthi a few years ago. Mahanubhavudu is the third highest.
The mass gangster genre and presence of big names, Sharwanand and Kajal together have helped in the openings. Word of mouth, however, is mixed, and a lot would depend on how well Ranarangam holds in the weekend.
The A centers of the Telugu states would be crucial for the overall performance of Ranrangam in the Telugu states. It needs to do a little more than 12 Cr, in the long run, to breakeven in Telugu states. At 3.80 Cr start, the chances are high to breakeven if the weekend holds with less drop.
Sudheer Varma of Swamy Ra Ra, Dochay, and Kesava fame had directed Ranarangam. Suryadevara Naga Vamshi produced the movie on Sithara Entertainments banner. Kalyani Priyadarshan and Kajal are the heroines in this epic gangster saga.
