Among the multiple releases that came over the weekend, George Reddy was the easy pick. It has picked up some momentum leading to the arrival, and it capitalized on it for the weekend.
Unfortunately, the weekend number is still low. The collections of George Reddy are better than the other movies that competed, but on its own, it is less. There is some distance to go before it can be termed a success. And that doesn’t look like happening, going by the first Monday figures.
The best performing area for George Reddy has been Nizam. It is the areas where the numbers are closest to breakeven. The rest of the territories are lagging, even though they all did decently (only in comparison).
With the coming week also having multiple releases, the chances of surviving George Reddy do look bleak. It has been the case for the past few weeks since the Dussera big movie. Only a couple of Tamil movies have managed to score profit in the last two months. It only shows the sorrow state of affairs theatrically in the Telugu. The less said about the US, the better.
